Brian has this astounding ability to fall asleep anywhere in any position in a matter of seconds. He can go from zero to 60 in the blink of an eye, and then back to zero in another blink. |

The couch is a recent addition to the house. Behind the couch (and in every room) runs a low shelf-like thing. (See pics above of Brian asleep with his head or feet on the shelf.) Michelle loves to climb up on this shelf and cruise back and forth along its entire length. She especially likes to stand on the shelf just behind the couch and climb over the back onto anyone who happens to be sitting or laying on the couch. Surprise!
In addition to swimming lessons twice a week, Brian takes an exercise class once a week, which he thoroughly enjoys. |

This past summer, a local amusement park had an exhibition of Thomas the Tank Engine things. We thought that Brian would be thrilled, but instead, he was somewhat subdued about most of the exhibits and refused to get on the Thomas rides. I don't know what he was thinking. Perhaps he was in awe, or perhaps he was disappointed with the crass commercialism of most of the items. Who knows. It hasn't affected his interested in Thomas trains at home, however.
Brian's Yochien (kindergarten) had a sports day (undokai) awhile back. This pic shows a race in which the child and parents hold hands and run around a course. Alas, many of the parents didn't quite understand the point of the race and got caught up with trying to win. As a result many of the children were dragged around the course, unable to stay on their feet long enough to run by themselves, and quite a few were actually picked up and carried!
Here's Brian with friends. |
